2025 is here and its hard to believe that I am into my fourth year of this quest! This particular trip to Mbotyi was with a group of friends who dont fish much if at all. Despit this we managed to rack up an impressive total of species (in excess of 20).

I came with some specific targets in mind such as Stonebream, Zebra, Grey Chub, Two-tone Fingerfin and Banded Galjoen. However, I managed five new species of which three were completely unexpected and didnt feature on my original list at all.

I got my Zebra on the day I arrived and I got the Stonebream on the final day of the trip. However, whilst fishing ultralight I managed a White-blotched Rockcod, Golden-striped Soapfish and a Sash Damsel.

All in all a very satisfying trip, I finally cracked 60 species!
