After a really tough day up at Canopy north of Cape Cross, I headed back home a little bummed. I had had such high hopes for the day. I had octopus legs which I was told are perfect for West Coast Steenbra and Canopy has had some great catches recently. But after 5hrs I finally admitted defeat, the sea was a bit rough and there was a really strong sidewash.
On my way home I decided to pop in at Mile 8 and as I arrived I saw someone putting a spotted gully shark back. I quickly rigged the Horizon with the Stella and tied on a full metal jacket trace. Using a mullet bait on an 8/0 circle it wasn't 10 minutes and I was on! Some great Namibian guys who were fishing next to me helped me land the shark and after a few quick snaps it was back in the water. Super keen to head back tomorrow and try for a bronze whaler and perhaps a cow shark!!!
